Plain chalk works fine and washes out. No need for special chalk. It’s really easy to free motion those arches, though, once you’re in a rhythm. Practice on a quilt sandwich about 20x20. Draw big boxes and sew curves from corner to corner. Gloves are a must..... garden gloves that have a bit of grip will work okay. HInt— sometimes going faster works better than slower on a curve.

You should be proud of your piecing! That's a gorgeous quilt! I would find a pattern (any pattern, but perhaps some feathers for the plain blocks). Reduce or enlarge the picture to the exact size you want, pin to the block you want to do & sew the pattern right over the paper. Dampen the paper at the stitch line & pull off the paper. Your quilting will look wonderful & it'll be good for your muscle memory for future endeavors of this nature. :-)

The quilt is darling - The quilting patterns are not my strong suit, though I agree "keep it simple". Your granddaughter will surely love this bright and cheery piece of work.

Love the bright cherry colors and the pattern. The border is nice with the different width rectangles. Is there a name for the pattern? Looks like it would work up fast and help with scraps :-)
