plastic canvas works great!! You can wrap fabric around it so it can be removable if you wish. that is what I use in my bow tucks bag.

I go to the dollar store and purchase the cutting boards that are disposable. They are easy to cut yet firm enough for the base of a purse and washable. Good luck.

I use plastic canvas. You can make a cover for it and just sit it in the bottom of the purse. It holds it straight and you can wash the whole thing. Plastic canvas is not expensive.

I build dollhouses and miniature room boxes so I use a lot of gator board. It is 1/4' thick with foam in the middle. There are two kinds, one covered with cardboard and the other in a VERY thin wood. We use the wood one.

It's very easy to cut. You just score both sides ans snap it over the end of a table. It comes in several sizes but we buy it in 4' x 8' sheets. Italso cuts esaily with an electric saw.

I make a lot of purses and tote bags so get a lot of "bottoms" from a sheet. I make a "pillowcase" that is removable for washing.

This is what I do for all my purses and diaper bags. It holds up well and loose change doesn't get lost in and open space.

I was at a thrift store and found pieces of industrial felt. I bought them for that purpose.

Take the piece of cardboard, cover it with a matching fabric/contrasting fabric and simply PLACE it in the bottom. Do NOT connect it with the pocketbook other than to slide it in the bottom so you can take it out when you need to wash the pocketbook itself! Perhaps even a DARK fabric or put some plastic over the cardboard and fabric to make it even more durable!

If you have an old cutting mat, just whack off a piece of that and put it into a sleeve--viola!! (I never throw anything away and there's usually something like that cluttering up my sewing space) rusty
