Viking makes one and Phaff makes one, they are about $1200, they are called "quilt tables". But here's the kicker. The manufature Wacom (as in drawing tablets, makes one too, they are selling it under the name Inspira brand name for around $300. I was thinking that for that price I might need to sweet talk hubby. Not to mention it sure would be nice for the keepsake quilt I'm working on for my daughter to be made "completely" by me. :D

Two things ladies. I couldn't figure out which foot you were talking about, but after years of fighting the scant 1/4" thing -I finally tried out a gadget I bought years ago called the Curve Master foot. Saw it demonstrated at the Chicago Quilt Show last Sunday. I've had it since 2004 never tried it till yesterday. It not only does curved lines without pinning - IT MAKES A Scant 1/4" every time. My partner and I recently started an on line business for quilters and our goal is to never sell anything we haven't personally tried and would purchase again. This baby is a winner. Just google Curve Master and it will come up at the top of the list. There is a good picture, chart of machines it fits. Awesome piece of equipment. Now when we cut kits with our Accucut machines for kits, everything will be perfect every time.

My second thing is the Free Motion Slider - since you are talking about free motion. I have yet to try this item, but am thinking about it. Any one here give it a try yet? I'm always up for input. It's very time consuming to try things enough to make good decisions and pre wash and iron all our kit materials. This is a very informative group.

just thought i'd share my latest project with everybody. i've not perfected the free motion quilting either, so i quilted this one using a size F spring hoop and did it on the embroidery machine 350E Janome. I paper pieced the top (bought at littlefoot.net) Hopefully my next one
will be better.

I have been switching feet between all my mecchines for years, some times I have to change the snap part that goes on the shank but when I do that it worsk. I have Babylock,Kenmore and Viking and any more I do not know which feet belong where.

Nana, that contraption is called a fabric mover and they are pretty pricey, I saw it demoed at the Houston show but they only had a fat quarter on it, that does not show me that it makes it any easier to manuver a full size quilt!

i have seen then in Nancy's Notions, but it would not be difficult to make one from pvc and plastic sheeting that you find at home depot.

Judging from the limited viewing on T.V., it look as though someone could have a company with laser cutting capibilities just "make one". I have heard that over the years some women, with husbands who worked in machine shops, ask their husband to make a foot that would accomplish certain tasks. Evidently women who sew and quilt are also engineers.

i have the free motion slider and highly recommend it (even at the $30 price tag!). i've only used it on smaller projects, but it really seemed to make a difference.

and i just read about the curve master the other day! can't remember where, though. maybe online when i was looking for feet for my 'left needle position' machine :(

fabricluvr~ You got me interested, so I looked up the free motion slider. It says it's telfon coated and sticks to the sewing machine. Is that like a static cling? I'm just wondering how much more "slippery" it is over the reg. extention table.
