I think we're talking about different Berninas, Miriam. I believe it was Chris that posted a photo. The favorits have a greenish cast but these machines (if Monica and I are on the same wavelength) are a brilliant, dark green and the machine looks industrial. I don't remember the model # off hand.

Well it is green but for sure it isn't as cool as Fritz. That Favorit is good for something maybe. Takes the same bobbin as the 221 but the bobbin cases don't interchange. Bobbin loads on the machine from the back. I think it is the only one I've seen like that. I had it up on CL and nobody wanted it - the thing weighs a TON.

Melinda that machine cleaned up very nice. You probably should have named it Martha, after my sister, she is a harder worker... My sister and I had a pretty good time down at the FedEx place. The guy at the counter was bored and watched the show. We got the boxes from FedEx - the first box fit pretty nice over the bubble wrapped machine and the detached motor. We filled in with styrofoam and crossed our fingers that it wouldn't shift too much. Then we put the smaller box in the big box. We had too much room and not enough styrofoam. But we had the box the foam came in left over so we padded it out with that. Between foam every where, boxes everywhere and the two of us trying to maneuver a heavy machine I think we made that guys day. BTW - there is still foam in my car - the box lid came open when we were driving with the windows down... Then it came time to mail it. The computer did not like Melinda's address but it did give us a phone number for her so we called and got some grouchy old man who didn't know much about sewing machines. So the machine got sent to that address because the other one wasn't on the computer. They are real funny about getting the address that is on the computer. Then when she did get the box it went to the address she was wanting anyway. Go figure. Confused? Me too.

Jan, did you get a taker for the 401 and 503 manuals? I would love to buy them from you, I have both machines. I do have a down loaded manual for each, but it would be nice to have the real deal. No bother if someone else already asked, I'm late to this party.

Melinda I love the all yellow machine! Sometimes I think I should change my collection to just machines with color!

Oh a happy note, I am going to finally be able to finish a quilt I have been piece mealing together! I finally received the last 'part' yesterday in the mail. I am excited to get this project done - most of it I have done on my 15-88 treadle! A fun project for sure!

Mary, this has never been an exclusive club - everyone is welcome here whether you post frequently or occasionally or once in a blue moon! When Billy started this shop, he said everyone is welcome and the door is always open! That mantra still applies today! We welcome everyone here. Pop in and out whenever you feel like it! We love it when someone comes in with a question or comment - gives us all something to think about, to learn from!

Guess you might call me a lurker but I visit here everyday and have always had my questions answered when I've had one, also nice compliments when I've posted pictures of my few machine treasures! Always enjoy reading and try to learn, but at my age things don't seem to stay in my brain for very long anymore.

Now thanks to some of you I'm off to find my "panty" pattern so I can make me some! These store bought things that don't have enough material to come all the way up to your waist are not my style, so bring on the "Granny Panty". Will also need to find that knitted sheet that I bought some time ago at a thrift store to make them from!

Yes, this works! The 301 is very easy to quilt with...with or without a walking foot, and FMQ is just fabulous on this machine!
