Oh DeMaris - so glad I'm not the only one AND I have on top of the machine quilts waiting to be finished I have at least 3 different hand quilts on the go - I seem to get to a point of once I've mastered the block I move on terrible I know but my major 'not finishing' is not doing the binding - so close yet so far!!!

When I started quilting nearly 30 years ago, I worked on one project start to finish before I would begin another.

I don't remember exactly WHEN it happened, but my life is no longer like that.

I do keep a written list of UFOs. At the beginning of this year, I had 32. As of this moment, I have finished 14 of those. Aren't you proud of me? That's almost half, after all!!!

But wait, I also started 15 new projects...so I actually have one more UFO than when I started in January. I'm sooo ashamed!

It seems like we "multi-taskers" are in the majority. I also keep a list of my UFO's and love scratching them off as I finish the. I don't do my own quilting, so finishing too many tops at one time could be prohibitive. (That's my excuse, anyhow). I've finished 3 UFO's this year, plus 3more that only need the binding whipped down. I also have started some new ones (2 finished).

I try not to do that. I do think about starting another quilt, but stop myself. Sometimes, I will stop working on the quilt and work on a smaller project that comes up, like a shopping bag.

[QUOTE=DeMaris;5669311]I want to know how many of you have quilts started and then move onto another one before you completed the first

You are not alone! I usually have 3 or 4 quilts in different stages. I can't just do one at a time. I go from one to another but they usually all get done. I can be working on a quilt and using leaders and enders that I plan for another quilt. It makes life interesting.

I usually complete a quilt before I start another one. I may have 2 or 3 started but not more than that. Sometimes I will finish everything except the handwork on the binding and do that several evening in a row.

I have several that I started years ago that won't be done any time soon...just not into them any more. I do try to finish the one I am working on tho. I have a hand applique that is on going...just when I am the sit and stitch kinda mood.

Here is some food for thought for you procrastinators. I went to a home a a lady who's sister passed and left a HUGE room full of quilting...Lots of UFO's...I really don't enjoy working on other peoples projects and she said other people who had come said they weren't interested either.

What was sad is that I suspect many of them would get tossed or donated....and unless you are one who keeps all the fabric together with the UFO...then no one will be able to finish it as planned. I hate to waste fabric, so this keeps me on task more.

I rarely have more than one quilt going at a time but I may have the nex one out and will be auditioning fabric for it.

Unless it is a BOM, I only try to have one at a time. Right now, there are two: one still bring pieced and one in process of quilting. BTW, it is still a UFO to me until the binding is sewn down to the back side.
