There might also be a local group teaching young people how to sew. We have one such in the Richmond area as an after-school program.

Regarding the fabric at goodwill. You won't see it in the stores. It goes on the shop goodwill .com site. Auctions off at some pretty decent prices. I go on there everyday. Bought a new set of Gingher seam ripper and rotary cutter. Never opened. Always looking at the featherweights. They go for 300 to 500 dollars.

The National Quilt Museum is accepting donations right now for their annual fundraiser. Visit the website Nationalquiltmuseum.org
after receiving the donation they send a tax receipt to the donor. All money raised goes directly to the museum. They accept quilts, unfinished quilts, materials, fabrics and tools.

Thanks everyone. I've found 2 local charity quilting groups that can use the fabric. I will pass that on to my cousin and she will decide what she wants to do.

    Thanks for your help.

I just donated 4 tubs of fabric to the senior ladies who sew daily at the local rec center. Check with Parks and Rec or your town's recreation department for senior sewing groups.

Oh how I wish we were close to you, would take it off your hands no problem, but since I'm not, I can
only wish. Some local quilting guilds in your area could certainly put this to good use.

We make quilts for people who lose their home and possesions to fire and are always looking for material as
we have no funds due to our age and not being able to have fund raisers any longer and members being
    on limited incomes.

Good luck in finding someone who can use is and is close by. Being in Central Mo. is too far from
the Dallas Ft Worth area to come after it and we don't have the funds to ship it, so as I said before I
    can only wish and dream.

Try the local senior center and the library. Many guilds use the library meeting rooms.

Yes! Check with a local quilt shop. They can direct you to local guilds, or smaller groups who do charity quilts. Several churches also support or provide space for these quilters to quilt together.

I have tried to donate fabrics to Goodwill, but never see anything of the sort on their tables. So, what I do now is list them on Craigslist. I have sold bags of scraps for $10.00. Yardage for half or less of it's true value. Or even boxes of various fabrics for $30, listing the size of the box of course. I've had pretty good luck with that. And they come to the office to pick them up.
