Not every female in Kentucky is barefoot or pregnant at 14. Bourbon is not served for breakfast. We're not all hicks--some of us are well-educated. We do, however, All love UK basketball!!
(I'm Sure that's not true--some Kentuckians live in Louisville--which can be mispronounced by people who live anywhere in the state...!)

I think education is very important here and my public school education was excellent. It is true though if there is a disaster the news crew is certain to find a toothless, bedraggled and generally pitiful specimin of humanity to represent us. Does that happen in your state?

Not true -- we are "behind" the times in many ways - but that allows me to trust my neighbors, smile at strangers, and relax as opposed to when I lived in Orlando Florida.
Generally - I like it here, good people, educated people, and nice people. (who have all their teeth!)

and yes -- if there is a news camera within 500 yards, the biggest idiot in a cut-off shirt and greasy hair will be selected for the interview

We don't really have jackalopes in Texas either. We do have jackrabbits though, along with a multitude of other creatures. Rattlesnakes and copperheads being some of the most dangerous critters around. We do see an occasional mountain lion every once in a while and ususally lose a couple of baby calves a year.

Everyone in Connecticut is not wealthy. (That's where I grew up and lived until 12 years ago)
I now live in Oklahoma. I was surprised to discover that Okie from Muskogee is long gone- Oklahoma has a huge methamphetamine problem, and high teen pregnancy rate.
On the flip side, Tulsa is one of the top five cities in the country for Art Deco architecture, and there is a lively music and arts scene here. Also a decent sized and active gay community.
Our senators are blockheads, but it's a nice enough place to live.

And Arizona is not all desert and canyons! I live in a part of Arizona where there are pines and oaks. We do not have the hottest temp. in the country. Last winter, schools were closed for three days due to snowfall. But do remember that we have a dry heat so when it's hot, it is not as unbearable.
