It is all about the wording. Handmade for a machine pieced and quilted quilt is fine with me. It did not come out of a mass produced production line. Pieced and quilted by hand is when no sewing machine is used at all.

I would say it was machine pieced and hand or machine quilted .

When I made all my own clothes, they were handmade, and I didn't stitch any of them by hand. Same thing with a quilt, I think.

The quilt is handmade, just not hand quilted. That is put together with your hands.............

I am wrestling with this same question right now. I am Quilt Show Chairman for 2012 and we are going over categories. What a can of worms! Hand quilters are proprietary about that category/phrase and rightly so. Home made isn't right either. OK, I have talked myself into Hand made. That says it all.
