This method is the best I've found, too and keeping the eggs underwater while peeling helps, the water works its way in between the membrane and the egg white.

em...and I CANNOT eat eggs with white shells. They just don't occur naturally without hormones.
I kept several breeds of bantams on natural foods and the color of the shells varied by breed, not by feed. OEGame=white shells.
Buff Columbians=brown shells.

I have heard that putting some vinegar in the boiling water will make them peel easier. Don't know, haven't tried it.

I read this same procedure on a chicken raising board (where just about everyone has fresh out of the chicken eggs) and just about everyone who tried it loved it. I tried it with store bought eggs and it didn't work any better than the old method.

I used to raise a few Polish hens and their eggs were perfectly white. I can guarantee I never gave them hormones...

White leghorns, which are what most of the commercial egg places use, lay white eggs.
