will make for interesting quilt.... you could use the deep pink as the Tread when quilting, could use embroidery floss to do some accent stitching etc. or applique the Pink on the purple in different areas... CAn't wait to see the final picture of Quilt...

Or if you would put together whatever pattern she want it made with - and show her how it needs "color" - maybe by explaining it to her she might understand - but otherwise just go with her desires - even though it it not right- or to your likes, it is her quilt afterall...

I think we get too hung up and what "should" go together and sometimes, someone else has a different eye on what would look good and we need to take those chances as they might turn out better than expected. It gets us out of our box!!

You gave her free choice and she chose what she wanted. Save the "Grandma knows best" for something really important. Her choice of colors won't harm anyone, and even if she later hates it, she will know that you respected the choice you gave her.

I tried to convince my daughter to use some fabric she did not particularly like and now wish I had listened to her.
I like the quilt, she does too, but it caused some strife I could have done without.
Let her pick and go with it.
If you need to add fabric to finish the quilt, pick within her range of colors.

I made a rather monochromatic quilt and when I asked a shop person for help choosing border fabrics, they "complained" it was too monochromatic and selected fabrics I could not go with. I picked one of her selections and have been sorry ever since.

You have to listen to yourself and in this case, to your granddaughter.

I did a quilt with my goddaughter that, to me, made crossing a major highway on foot look calm. But, when it was done, it really was charming, though not to the taste of an adult. Do it her way!
