I found this cute pattern for owl pincushions. I've made several and they are quite easy and use up scraps of fabric and 2 buttons for eyes. I did go to the pet store and bought the smallest bag of lizard litter, which is crushed walnut shells. Use this to fill the owl. It gives it some weight and is good to stick your needles and pins into= keeps them sharp.

Go to a dollar store & buy a pkg of little girl's hair thingies-they are round & probably made for ponytails-to use for bobbin buddies. A package of 300 was only $1. I hand them out to new members of our quilting group.

I'm guessing that a "sussie" is sort of "Lagniappe"(" a little something extra", for those who don't know) for stitchers? I'm a Texas gal but mom and dad and most the family were from So. Louisiana so we got some some of that cajun french blood...altho I must admit, I have never heard of a "sussie".

Lots of good ideas here - from sussies to bobbin holders. I get great ideas from reading all these comments. Thanks everyone from a sort of newbie.

This year I made hot plate holders to give to friends. Everyone loved them once they figured out how to use them.
