When making scrappy quilts I have used the 1-1/2" to make a block bigger to match other blocks. I think the courthouse steps uses them too.

When Mary Ellen Hopkins came to Australia I learned that 1-1/2" was my PPM. Personal Private Measurement. BFF, Sheena prefers 2-1/2".

Those are a great size for log cabin and pineapple blocks! Also, they are used a great deal in string quilts!!

I use them a lot, for string quilts but very much for a narrow frame border, especially on my Project Linus quilts, they are also great for sashings, couldn't do without them.

I like a really narrow binding on table toppers and use 1.5" strips on those. I tend to cut them myself though, and not purchase the precuts.

I use 1 1/2 inch strips for piano keys. I do a lot for borders. I sew them together for spider webs and pyramid quilts. Also did a scrappy french braid with them. Also did a log cabin once. I love them. Cut my own from scraps.

I don't use them too often, but when I do, log cabins and string quilts.

I routinely cut 1.5" strips from scraps. I love to make small 4-patch and 9-patch blocks to incorporate into larger blocks. Bonnie Hunter influences again. :-) Check out her Crabapples quilt in Adventures with Leaders and Enders. I pieced one of these last year. It actually went faster than what I expected and was lots of fun.

Just wondering if any of you have used 1.5" strips, and what you made from them.
Yes, in fact, I am making a quilt right now "Ride the Rails" from American Patchwork and quilting. I am using scraps based on the Bonnie Hunter method. Next I am going to do a Jo Morton and use 1 inch strips.
