Did I hear there's more to come on Monday? Truthfully, we really haven't had it bad up here this winter...so far. DH is watching a show on the travel channel about tropical beaches while the snow is still coming down hard outside. I got a lot done in my sewing room and am looking forward to getting more done today. Keep warm, everyone!

Two in front of me setting the pace and making tracks, one next to me, and four behind me.

There has been a State of Emergency declared for the State of Massachusetts. I am close enough to the border that I follow their weather guidelines.
I get to hunker down for the evening and probably the weekend, and I feel very content about that! We have a generator; cats and quilts; gas stove for cooking.
    How neat Jennie.

I had a not so quite simular experience in Kansas. I was driving with my son and daughter up to S.D. When a group of bikers surrounded my car. 4 in the front and two in the back. They stopped when I did, stayed a safe distance away from us. When I crossed in Nebraska the waved and faded off into the night. I never knew who they were.

The sun is shining and the cleanup begins, although we still have a state-wide ban on any non-emergency vehicle driving on any road. We got 21 inches in my area, but down the road in Hartford, Connecticut, they easily got 30 inches plus. We have two coastal cities in Massachusetts being evacuated now because the ocean is coming into the homes.

The best part for me is that we still have power and I hope that continues, given the heavy snow on power lines, in trees, etc. We are snowed in and probably will be for a couple days.

Here are some pictures of my area. This pretty much says it all.

It sounds like the '78 blizzard when CT roads were closed for 3 days. It WAS beautiful the day AFTER the snow stopped. We had a deep fat fryer, and my daughter called her high school pals that morning and said we were making doughnuts. We had a ball that day. Kids came on snow shoes, cross country skis etc. Many brought sandwich makings. Some brought milk and hot chocolate mix. We have a great sledding hill. No complaints.

Now I spend the winter in AZ, but I almost envy New England for the day AFTER the blizzard!

But, seriously, I hope your electricity stays on - or comes back quickly if you lose it.

Well, we made it through alright. Still have the electricity, Yeah! We ended up getting between 18" - 25" of snow. It took DH till 2PM to get the driveway, 2 cars and paths cleared. Early this morning, our Rat Terrier, 14yrs young, had to go out, so he shoveled about 5' long path the snow was over his head, then our other pup, a Cockastzu, had to go. He's used to going for a long walk, had to make do in the 5', DH said he tried to climb the snow, couldn't do it, ha ha. He is 10 months, and bigger than a shi ztu, and he loves the snow, so he is all set. I hope the coast gets their electricity back soon. Hopefully the weather stays clear, and the airports open up, I am taking my 83 yr old mother to Fla, to visit my brother Monday.

THAT is really creepy, Hawk! Interesting, though. I can't help but wonder what the reason was except that you were alone with your children. They can be protective of women in spite of the frightening reputation of some biker gangs.

It has been fascinating to read about everyone's experience with this storm, some having major snow, some just seeing it as the usual winter. Joanne, your day with the kids sounds like the best fun ever, how I'd have enjoyed that with you!!

Thank you all for checking in and sharing with us all.

I continue to hope for safety for those who are without power.

Please take care, stay warm and hope you don't lose power. I think Nebraska, Colorado, South Dakoa and Minnesota are to get the next nasty storm. Have relatives in each of these states, As they say, it's part of chosing to live there.
I am tickled pink when it is above freezing.
