    hehe - my husband likes to thoroughly clean machines - he figured he's got to get them back to "factory new" clean because it may be another 100 years before they get a cleaning like that.

    Right now he's working on my mangle - and that one has some seriously hard crud in the gear box to deal with.

    the mystery deepens...

    The Logo on the shuttle cover is for the company Claes & Flentje. The Starburst design on the Handwheel is Claes & Flentje.... But all research on the "Politype" shows it as Emile James. I am starting to think he was some kind of importer....

    Curious.

    If you still have the contact info for the sellers, they said they'd love to see a picture of it cleaned up.

    Just did.

    I also found this in the "Official Souvenir Handbook from the 1892 World Fair

    Looks like he was an Importer. Perhaps the head was imported and the irons were made here?

    Dog? I didn't see a dog.....And I went back and looked twice. Anyway, dog or not, you did an amazing job--I am glad I didn't have to use that thing when it was new. FWs and 201s are more my style.....
