I make art quilts which can be any size and shape, baby quilts 35x45 and the occassional queen size.

Most of my quilts are large throw size... 64 x 74 or around that size. Exact size depends on the pattern of course. Usually I make comfort quilts.

Doll quilt, baby quilt, play mat for toddler, lap (but that size isn't great because if I want to cover up, I want to cover generously from above head to well below feet); sofa quilts for others (not for myself yet) ; almost a twin. Nothing larger yet. But I do see a larger one in my future.

I make several quilts 55” x 72” (approx)..... good for wrapping yourself up on the couch or recliner in the winter .... easy to handle & quilt yourself .... can make two quilts this size out of one queen size batting (I always use Warm & White and/or Warm & Natural)

I have noticed the same thing. Lots of the patterns in the magazines are smaller than bed size, however many can be enlarged by adding a row each direction or more border , etc. I have done this with some to get the size I needed.
