Yes, I know schnibbles! My Oma from Germany used it for any small bit of anything; snips of fabric, crumbs, little pieces of string, that kind of thing. My husband was baffled when I said it the first time.

Irishgal - LOVE your thread holder! So pretty.

I am not a big "gadgety" person but I really like my quilter's clapper (maybe better known as a tailor's clapper). I find it especially helpful when pressing blocks with small pieces & a lot of seams (i.e., Bonnie blocks haha).

It really helps them lay flat. I also like using it for pressing creases for flippy blocks - can do several at a time and it's faster for me than using a pencil (and more accurate for me than eye-balling it).

Didn't think I would like them a much as I do - after pressing with a steam iron you need to leave the clapper on for several seconds (like 15-20) so I thought it would take forever to press blocks but after pressing one block I put the clapper on then press another, move the clapper, etc.

I just ordered the fusible crystals by Quilter's Select. That is new. I have the Bonash powder but it is messy and not made for large areas. wow, amazing new product

If you haven't used a clapper it is great. It's a must have for me but I have demoed it many times for it to be new for my guild. The longer you leave it on the seams the flatter they get and will never get unflat until washed. Sally Collins of Precise Piecing leaves a ruler weighted down on her seams for ten minutes or more after pressing. She has a show on The Quilt Show that she shows her best tips for perfect piecing.
