I'm so happy for you finding a furry friend. Our Annie is a stray that someone dropped off in a parking lot. she was going from car to car looking for food. Annie was so thin when we got her. We've had her now for almost 2 years and she is just the sweetest cat and has hubby wrapped around her little paw. Annie is also a quilt inspector.

It was meant to be!! That was such a sweet story.

Pennyswings: How is the new baby today? Is he adjusting well? My little Gracie is making herself quite at home. It's just so cute to watch a little kitty explore. Everything and every sound is so new. Too cute for words. It's been so many years since I've even had a pet -- especially a cat. It's nice to have an additional to the fam.
Pab thanks for asking. Kallie Kat is adjusting just fine. Today I was sewing and he wanted to be right in the middle of my quilting. Then while I was oiling the sewing machine he was right there supervising the whole process.
He is a sweet, affectionate cat. He likes to talk to me and to purr a lot. He does not seem to have learned to play but we are working on that. He is finally gaining some weight and his stools are not as loose, in fact they are almost normal. He eats like a race horse!
I think I mentioned somewhere here that we use to have a Siamese. Her name was Mesha and we were blessed with her for over 16 years before she died, My DH was just so in love with her and he had a wicker basket custom made for her to sleep in during the winter days. He even brought a sheepskin pelt to line the basket so she would be warm and comfortable. She slept in the crook of his arm when he went to bed but during the day She loved to curl up in that basket. We have not had a cat since we lost her and that was 5 years ago.
Now Kallie Kat is sleeping in the basket and he has claimed it as his own. He is growing on my husband too.
Purr-fect!!! He's a quilting kitty!!! He knew exactly what home to adopt!!

So sorry to everyone that has lost their kitties. We are going through that right now . We have a tuxedo cat Hobo who wandered up to the house 8 years ago.I had him neutered and his shots done. We took him to the vet last week because he has a growth on his foot and found out he is FIV positive. He is going back to the vet Thursday and we will come home without him. He has always been our outside cat by his choice not ours. But he would come home every night to get his dinner and special treat. He is not happy right now because he has to stay in the breezeway.
    >>> now and >> on Thursday and after.

Hi Penny, how cute... your new friend is. It made me think of the song that starts out... oh happy days, O happy days. I know he found a good home when you found him. God is good and sends us little guys to warm our hearts. Linda

About two weeks ago my DH and I were sitting in his mother's house, where we are currently living until we finish our house out back. It was a Saturday night and we were having our late snack when we heard our dogs barking like crazy. We went back and discovered that all the commotion was coming from the upper floor of our new house. He grabbed his gun, just in case, I grabbed the flashlight and up we went. In the back bedroom we found the two dogs had cornered this poor, half starved cat. He was scared to death and blood was on the floor. We proceeded to chase the dogs out of the house and then my DH picked the poor thing up.
I took him downstairs to the parcially finished area of the house and proceeded to clean him up. Well the blood was from our bearded collie. He had a good scratch on his foot but was fine. The cat, a boy by the way, was dirty, half starved and had a couple of minor scratches. I made a temporary litter box for him, got him some leftover chicken and fed him. He did not have a great night, he had very loose bowels and vomited a couple of times. Although he tried to make it to the litter box he had several accidents during the night.
The next day I went and got him some real cat food and a proper litter box. His loose bowels continued through the day and so did the accidents.
On Monday we brought him to the vet. He had an irritated bowel syndrome, probably from not eating properly, and needed a special cat food to aid in digestion, as he was not able to absorb the food passing through the intestines. So the vet gave him some antibotics, something to help with the bowel irritation, a special food and gave him his vaccations.
I am happy to report that the loose bowels have stopped, no more accidents in the house and he is starting to put on a little weight.
We have decided to keep him since he is so cute and such a good, affectionate little guy. We have named him after a cat my brother had before he died. His name is Kallie Kat and he has a forever home with us.
Thought some of you would like to hear the story. Here is his picture.
You won't believe this but I had a cat that looked just like him except mine had more yellow on his face & the prettiest blue eyes you had ever seen. My son named him "Little Face" because he had such a cute little face. He was a good cat not like usual Tom. I wished we still had him but had to be put down when a car hit him.
