With fusible web there is no need to turn under the edges. Just fuse it down then stitch! So so very easy! Sometimes if the needle catches the edge of the aplique just right, you will get some little threads that poke out but you can just pick them off.

I did once use a technique that you turned under the edges with the freezer paper technique, then glue basted the pieces down, then machine stitched instead of hand stitching. It worked fine that way, but for me fusible is just so much easier!

The Tiger Lily quilt I did do by hand, most everything else I have done has been by machine. That one I needed a take-along project so did it by hand :D

What is the name of the fusible web you used? Specifics...help me. I'm going to Hobby Lobby Thursday after my doctor's apptmt (my reward for keeping my apptmt) and want to buy the right stuff.

I like "Wonder Under" and you get it by the yard. Hobby Lobby does have it (well ours does anyway!) A lot of people like "Steam-a Seam" so its is a personal preferance.

The others are fabulous too but the tiger lily "speaks" to me.

My favorite is Heat N Bond Lite (you HAVE to use the lite!!!). I like it better because I think that it is easier to stitch through on the sewing machine and it never gunks up your needle. I buy it in packages at WalMart. It is about $5 for a package and it lasts a LONG time!!

A tip for those learning fusible applique. When appliqueing large pieces, cut out the center of the fusible before ironing it on the fabric. The only purpose of the fusible is to hold your fabrics together until you sew them. The added fusible in the center is not needed. By eliminating it your work stays "softer" and not as bulky if you are layering mulitple fabrics.

Thanks all! I dont know if you remember, but the Tiger Lily is the one that Jacquemo quilted for me and did such an outstanding job on!!!!!
