I use my quarter foot on the machine and have to change to Option "01" each time I start, or I break a needle hitting the quarter foot. I bought my unit at Walmart for under $150 with all the attachments, extension bed and cover for machine.

I have the XR9000 that I bought at Costco in April. Love it! It is basically the same machine but with 90 stitches. Another gal on this board just bought the SQ9000. Lots of input on it on her message. Search SQ9000 for more information on these Brother machines. Hers was under $200 also.

Cindy, I've had this machine for four years. DH surprised me with it, and I'll admit I was disappointed (but didn't tell him) because I was hoping some day to have a "real" machine. I decided to go ahead and use it until it broke. Well, I was surprised again. It works great and offered a lot more options for me than my 25 year old Kenmore. I still use my Kenmore on occasion but this Brother is my go-to machine. It's pretty lighweight but I think a real bargain for the price. A thumbs-up from me! Go for it if you can.

I have 2 of them, DD has one, and BFF has one. I sew on allove them. I have had no difficulty with any of the stitches on any of them. I like that model and would buy it again.

I've been reading about it on Amazon.com and also perusing the reviews. I am really impressed with it but after reading some reviews, I don't know.
I really need a better machine than I have now but can't afford a really expensive machine.

To those who suggest I go to a dealer for Janome and other high cost machines..............I can barely scrap up enough for this machine @ $169.99 let a lone a Janome. Belive me, I'd like nothing better than to have a top notch machine but not everyone, including myself can afford those machines. I started out sewing on a simple Singer dh got me for Christmas in 1968 and loved but it went on the fritz and we don't have any repair shops near here. I got a Brother XL3022 14 years ago at Walmart for $179 which I like and am using still and haven't had any trouble with it at all but I want one that has more features, now that I am learning to quilt.
JoAnn's has one I'd really like but the $299. (on sale, reg. $399) price tag is beyond my reach. :(
I'll let you know what I get if I am lucky enough to get a new one.

I have a Brother HS2000 with 70+ stitches & I love it!! It sewed through the thick jeans seams to repair my husbands shorts & I've been sewing lap robes, etc., since June with no problems. Poor thing has really been worked hard! I'm not sure about putting a big quilt through it, but after Christmas may try that too. The hole seems a bit small. Not sure why they do that when they put "for quilting" in the review, but I love everything about it so far! I got it at AllBrands.com refurbished with a new serger for $438.00 no S&H & had them 2 days later!

I don't own this particular machine. I have a Janome memory craft 6600 series and I absolutely love this machine. My husband surprised me with it. We, like alot of people are on a limited income now,but if you search around sometimes you can find some nice machines at reasonable prices I will certainly let you know if I find a good bargain! Hang in there!
