Hey, that's a great idea. I am 61; live in Texas and retired a year ago as a legal secretary to the same attorney for 26 years. My husband of 26 years passed away 4 years ago and I'm still struggling to get my life back together. We had no children together, but I was blessed with 3 great stepchildren. I have a Santa Claus collection totalling over 500...some I keep out year round and the rest are stored away. I started quilting about 6 years ago after a friend begged me to take a beginning quilting class with her. I was hooked immediately, but have not been very good at finishing my projects. Have only completed 2 lap quilts and one baby. Have 3 more tops in the works and continue to collect more and more patterns.

I have one GD who is 6... I live in Arkansas on Lake Greeson and own a motel..

I have always made my own curtains and all my own pillow cases...Too many to count..

This is my second marriage and we have been together 17 years... He is in USAF and is a career man..

I have only done 1 wall hanging in all these years.. To date I have 7 queen tops and 9 king tops that still need to be quilted...

    Hello everybody,
I don't know how many things I have made so I will just tell you a few things about me......

    Im 39 years old.
    From Ohio.
I have two boys - 17 and 20 - one in college, one in high school.
    I work full time.
I have a wonderful husband who has taken care of my boys since they were 4 and 8.
I love to quilt, especially scrap quilts but don't have enough time to spend on them.
I collect buttons. I have literally thousands of buttons.
I like to swap quilt squares and things for buttons.
My husband and I have been buying old singer sewing machines and working on them and will hopefully sell them.
Well, not sure what else to say.
    Judy in Ohio

    Well,

i was born in Sweden, moved to Australia when i was 5 moved back to sweden for 3 years when i was twelve and then back again to Australia. I can speak Swedish, Finish and ofcourse Australian!
i am 44 years old and I have been married for 19 years and have 2 sons, one is 17 and the other 15. I have mainly sewed clothes for the boys when they were little and have also crocheted over the years. i went to a craft fair about a year ago which was when the quilt bug bit and now that the boys are almost grown i will have more time to do things that i enjoy so am very happy to have discovered quilting. I am teaching myself quilting and when i found this quilting board i was so happy and i have learnt so much from all of you. None of my friends quilt so it is so nice to be able to talk to all of you from all over the world and to know that you all are passionate about quilting too.
I live in a semirural area on 2 acres of land and love the peaceful surroundings and all the wildlife and love spending time in the garden which is another passion. I work part time 3 days a week in an office and have done that for 11 years and am probably leaving this job before xmas. i am thinking of going to school to become a librarian as that is my other passion..books and reading. My dream would be to go to university and to do a visual arts degree..maybe one day..

I started sewing in the 7th grade in school. Mother can't sew a stitch. I used the neighbors sewing machine so my folks bought me a machine when I was 16. Made my school clothes. Sewed my horse showing clothes and chaps too. Sold western wear I made too. Now I am just making quilts and loving it . Not much of a crafter no patience for that.lol..
I have 1 husband, 3 dogs, several cats, and 3 chickens. Oh yes, 4 horses and a mule. tlcquiltnut

First quilt I ever made was at my gr. mother's knee. It was for my doll. I hand sewed it and knotted it with pink knitcrochine, I think it was called.
Raised by my gr. mother. Not a day went by that I didn't talk to her on phone or visit her. She lived to be 90, she was my angel. She also taught me to crochet, embroider and knit, and be the person that I am today at 51.
Second milestone quilt was the one that I made for my first child. It was a nine patch and I knotted it too. It's still in the family, and that child is 31 yrs old.
Married my husband right out of high school. We have 5 children and 9 gr. children. I had many jobs over the years, but my career was wife and mother. I'm a homemaker at heart, still am, nothing I would rather do really.
Not much leasure sewing went on while I was raising my children, but I knitted and crocheted lots of toques and scarves and sewed many hems and seams.
Now I sew to my hearts content and I'm just so very contented. Hubby is recently retired and luckily, we still really like each other.....lol. Will be spending our first winter in Florida.
There have been many ups and downs but no down and outs. I've had a wonderful life so far and am looking forward to the second half.
I love my family, my two tiny dogs, my garden, books, my tea, hot coco , fleece sheets, the color green.
Wish I could lose some weight and keep it off, its my achilles heel, other than that, no complaints.

I am so happy that this post found its way back. I love hearing...or I should say reading about everyone.

tlcquiltnut, my mother doesn't sew either or any of her siblings. Which is odd, because my grandmother and great grandmother and all of her siblings and aunts sew and quilt. I took up my sewing from my grandma.

ddrobins, happy to hear you and your husband still like each other. :) lol. I know what you mean about your gr mother making you who you are today. My grandmother was a major influence in my life, she made me the quilter and sewer I am today. She is definitely my angel and I can't imagine my life without her.

Jerrie, I don't believe you. There is no way you are 49. I read that and looked at your picture and said there is no way. LOL.
