Karyn, we had that problem too, had to put a fence around the garden! Last year a mama bunny had her babies right in the middle of my garden. We left them alone, just went around them, til they moved out, lol!

As a farmers wife, the price of seed corn has gone out of sight-hense production return has increased, but the corn isn't going for feed-it's going for the demand for fuel and to "developing" countries.............even though we get nothing to ship animals for beef-you are paying at the market. We are losing both ways here.................maybe you should look locally for a co-op to help supply your food needs, or a local farmer............they are struggling to stay in business.

I feed my dogs raw meat on occasion, but I make the dog food. I will send you a PM about dog food.

I am curious about this method of feeding dogs?

I take it as a mixed blessing - beef has been making me sick lately and I should eat almost none, and if the prices go up I can talk hubs into chicken, pork, or fish. If they go up on all the rest we'll be partial vegetarians! sharet

Is it OK to freeze cheese? We have an Amish Store nearby and I've always wondered about doing that.

Yes you can freeze cheese. Wrap in in plastic wrap, then place in a paperbag. To thaw take out of paperbag & place in refrigerator. Let it thaw in refrigerator for 24-48 hours before using.

I freeze American sliced cheese all the time. I buy 3-5 pound pre-sliced blocks, divide it up & do as above.

I think being healthy and in good physical shape is the no. one way of surviving hard times. Health is everything so do everything to keep healthy, especially for your children. Good healthy foods and lots of physical activity is the best head start to prepare for whatever the future holds.

I do not like what I am reading here. I do not by hamburger very offen but this week will be buying a lot of it for my son's 40th birthday dinner. For all the adults, except 2 very picky adult eaters I will have to make 8 stuffed bell peppers, for the 2 picky ones a couple of meatloafs without onions and for the little ones and teenagers hamburger patties. So I will need a lot of ground beef. I buy the low fat (90/10) ones but might have to downgrade to ground round (80/20) this time. The price of green peppers is also through the roof!
