I learned to quilt watching Alex Anderson's shows. She has such a nice onscreen personality and her guests always taught you something new.

Met Alex at one of her retreats and she is a nice as she seems on TV. She didn't push her fabrics, etc., they were out in the hallway if you wanted them, just cut, measure and write it down yourself. She also had arranged for discounts at local quilt shops that stayed open late for retreaters and she gave away tons of tee shirts, books, patterns, etc. Had a really nice time at her retreat.

I agree with all the other comments about HGTV.I use to watch it a lot while quilting especially. Now they don't have anything worth watching. I did record a lot of the older programs and go back and watch them over. There was a lot of good information on them. I wish we could get all the good ones back. I guess they call it progress.

Why can't we deluge them with email saying we miss the sewing shows? It seems to have worked to get Wally World to restock their sewing dept.

Call your cable co. and see if Create is available in your area. It has fons and porter and Georgia Bonesteel Lap Quilting. Not sure of the spelling of her name. Also has painting , gardening, craft and cookiing shows.

I miss HGTV, too. I used to tape so many shows. I hardly watch it anymore, I keep checking back hoping I will like it, but nothing of interest.
We do get Love of Quilting on our PBS, but with Mary Fons it drives me nuts, I just don't enjoy it like I used to. It seems sort of 'dumbed down', or maybe I am just 'smartened up'??

I added HGTV to my Direct TV programing because of the sewing and quilting shows, plus Carol Duvall. Now I don't watch it at all. Tired of all the selling, buying, construction, and deconstruction on there now.
I did the same thing with Direct TV and now hardly ever watch. Not only do I dislike the real estate shows but how many times can you watch the same show without being able to quote the script!!

I think I read on this site that HGTV has programming for 25-45 year old set. I know I am older but I loved Simply Quilts and all the gardening shows. I am with you I miss them!!!

Lots of us wrote and emailed HGTV and they just don't care what we want. They didn't even give Alex any advance notice that her show was being cancelled.
