I do pretty much the same thing, using one of those inexpensive mesh hampers--the ones that fold flat when you're not using them. When it gets full, I make a simple scrappy quilt to get the scraps back down to a manageable level.

Great idea. Our guild also does the scrap beds for the animal shelters as well.

I have a wire egg basket for small scraps. When I have a few minutes I pull from the basket and make crumb blocks. These are turned into potholders, mug rugs, placemats, etc. when I get a few done.

I have a small wicker laundry basket that I throw larger scraps to cut into 2 1/2, 3 1/2, ect. size blocks. What's left after that either goes into a basket for string blocks or into the egg basket.

I stick mine in a container and slice them into smaller pieces when I get time. My granddaughters love to play with them so it's okay if I don't get it done in a timely manner....

I found a way to use my strips and made a strip quilt. When i get the blocks sewn together, I will try to send a picture.

I don't cut my scraps unless I use them for applique. I use what most people would throw away those scraps for crazy quilts. The long ones, 2.5 wide strips for string quilts. I keep this stash under my sewing machine. As I sew other blocks, when finished, I make a 12 inch block for crazy quilt and the strings for a string quilt. If I need a Pom for something, I refer to my scrap box. What I usually have left are pieces less than 1.5 inches and sometimes I use some of them to fill in a gap in a crazy quilt. So what if part of the quilt had it's sewn edges on the top? Right now I'm working on 4 quilts. One I haveis a panel in the center surrounded by 4 inch blocks. It is ready to machine quilting. I don't leave the machine without making an addition to all my started quilts.
