I, too, have to repeat what others have said about having valuable things in retirement and nursing homes. They do often turn up 'missing'. For sure get some kind of label on it although if you sew it on, I am sure someone can unstitch it and remove. The place my mom was in had a black indelible marker they wrote residents name and room number on so please don't let them do that with this. It is much too lovely and valuable. I hope where he is moving is a nice place and we are all worrying for aught. It is a work of art, I agree!

OMG! Beautiful, love the oldies. I sure hope that you put a label on it so it doesn't get, hmmm how should I say it nicely . . . LOST would be it. (stolen not so nice.) sorry to sound so pessimistic. But things happen in rest homes.

Do figure out some way to make sure that this gorgeous quilt doesn't grow legs and disappear! My SIL's daughter has found her quilts and blankets on many different beds in the AZ unit. Ambulatory patients take what they like and the nurses can't seem to return them. My niece just goes into the offender's room and taking the blanket/quilt, etc., back to her mom's room.
