Virtual Quilting Weekend -- March 3 to March 6, 2016
#51
I had a great day sewing with a friend. Not a lot of progress to show, but I did finish sewing 150 1/2 square triangles for a border, so that's a good start, anyway. And I encouraged her through a couple of steps on an ancient UFO which will hopefully help her keep things moving.

Here is what I am doing now...I have been on a Dresden kick so I made the black and brown one for a friend..she will hand quilt it. It is from a 2008 magazine. The woven one is from the new McCall's quick quilt magazine (on the cover) and the other one is Riley Blake's "Sunshine. I bought the fabric last year in Shipshewana and the pattern was free with the purchase.

Monale, love your colors in the Celtic Solstice. How small are the pieces? Bonnie Hunter is here in town this weekend, doing three workshops for our guild. She will present at our meeting Monday night. Should be interesting.

Drats, waisted afternoon 4 hours, 3 stores and about 80 miles no fabric! I will either have to piece one of the quilts or try to find it online. Time for a quick dinner then dishes and then back to some sewing.

I have officially lost my mind. I just started a La Passacaglia. This is my first time EPP. I have to say sewing with the Bottom Line thread is difficult. I have always liked hand sewing.

What pretty work, ladies... those La Passacaglias-- WOW.
I have been plugging away on my quilt all day. I put it together, then made the border which completes the stars, sandwiched it, and now I'm quilting it on my Juki as you can see. I'm starting with SITD around all the stars and then Ill see what I need to do after that. This is a poly batting so it's really puffy. I want to let the stars be a little puffy, and squish down the background with more close quilting if it needs it.
These little squares have been traded in several years of the Birthday Candy Swap. My birthday is coming up first this year (April), and I'll be getting more candy... so I'm trying to use up some of what I have first. That's my plan!

I stopped at the fabric store today and bought some beautiful fabric for the back. Looking forward to getting it finished and on the frame!
