They would not do so unless I made two orders.........
fatquartershop does and Hancocks even tells you at the check out "there is space for ...yard of fabric for the same shipping costs"
Thanks for the heads-up. I was thinking of ordering but won't now if shipping is so high. It doesn't save money in the end.
    Raksmum,

Look into the shipping before you decide. I live in Alberta and they ship 8 yards for $12.50 in a flate rate parcel.

Shipping to Swizterland and shipping to Canada will not be the same. Given what fabric costs in Canada for me it is worth the shipping. Check it out.

While searching for a job this past week I found out some interesting info about them. First of all, they are a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amazon.com. Secondly, they are located in Marietta, GA, and have grown so rapidly that they probably will have to move to a much larger facility as they are now the largest online fabric store in existence. They have no brick and mortar presence for retail. Thirdly, they are currently increasing their staff to help manage customer service, marketing, etc. Now, my fourth point is very selfish...if anyone knows anyone who can give the hiring manager a nudge for me I would greatly appreciate it as I have applied for the Senior Customer Service position and really can't imagine a more perfect fit for me. And if by chance I get the job I will do my best to make sure that every customer is treated the way I would like to be treated myself. So, please don't stop shopping there!
JoAnn-Good luck with the job hunt. I think you would be great for the position and then we would all be assured that Customer Service at Fabric.com really means service for the customer!!!

I ordered for the first time from Fabric.com One of the pieces I ordered was backing - 108" wide. When it came it was not marblized like I ordered and it was so thin you could see through it. Nothing I could put on the back of a quilt and expect it to last. I the washed it and when I took it out of the dryer it seemed a lot smaller. I measured the width and it was 55" wide. I should have measured it before I washed it, but I know it was wider than that. So I emailed them with my complaint. They did send me a different piece (looks like the one I ordered). It is a much nicer, heavier piece. I washed it and it did shrink a little, but not like the other.
I probably will try them again

I expect all to be well but I'll holler loud and clear if it isn't!
My order arrived today right on time.
It was packaged well, they gave me more than generous cuts.
I order (5) 1/2 yd cuts and the smallest was 20", most were 23". The 1 yd piece I ordered was almost 1 2/3. All the fabric was great quality.
I ordered a 12 yard piece I am using for a couple of quilt backings. I figured 2 3yd pieces each quilt.
What I received was 13 2/3 yd. generous but it was a 10 yard piece and a 3 2/3 piece which was fine for me. If it would have been a 10 and a 2 I would be in trouble.
If I had needed a continuous 12 yard piece I would not have been able to use it.
I had ordered another 12 yard piece from another company and they picked up the phone and called me to find out exactly what I needed because they didn't have
a 12 yard single piece either.
That's good customer service and I think Fabric.com should consider doing that.
I am pleased with my order the way it worked out and I will use them again but if they have a comments box and I don't remember if they did, I would
certainly mention how I needed any large pieces cut.

I hope your problem has been solved.
    :-D
