Yes, I think the blue one makes him stand out the best.

My 10 y.o. granddaughter says the blue one is the best.

I like the Second set #5 it makes all the points stand out more. But I also like second Set #3. the blue was good but I think it's a bit to bright for me in comparison to the greens from the second set.

My vote goes for second set choice 3. I love the leaves, they are subtle but interesting. Green is a nice compliment to the other colors. For me, the blue is too much, too jarring. That is a beautiful quilt, you did a superb job!

How about a blue/white cloud fabric? Not quite as dark as the hand dyed.

I assume you are going to add stitching around your fused fabrics in the deer. If you do, then you can outline the antlers in a light brown or grey so that the tips don't disappear. Or, you can get a very fine fabric pen and define them by outlining them using that technique. It's also a good way to change the colour of a thread that you've used to free motion quilt, say on the deer, if you decide you don't like it.
Finally, I would free motion quilt a few "ghost" trees with bare branches using lavender or green (possibly variegated) in the background. Draw them first with one of those disappearing markers to see if you like the effect.
I like your way of thinking - sounds like what I had planned to do. I did another WH and did the trees, mountains and clouds the same way. Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate it.

I like the blue best. It looks more like sky and trees. I would try for a little more green though to make it look more like a forest.
