When I have smaller pieces, I cut out on the ironing board. When I have larger pieces, I cut out on the floor. When I pin the quilt together, I have a long folding table that I bring in from the porch whenever I need it, set it up in the living room and when I am done pinning, take it down, put it away and that's it! The rest is done in a rocking chair!!!! Edie

PS - The back is going to hurt any way you cut it, to coin a phrase, so when I finish, I just lay down on the floor and stretch the old 73 year old spine from one wall to the other! HELPS!!!!

I use my dining room table which has a pad to protect the top. Am short so it works well, and has good light. I have to cut in the daytime also.

I use a kitchen island from Ikea. It has the metal shelves on one side a butcher block top and room for a stool on the other. I set it as an island with 3 sides open. It is the proper height for me. Luann

I have a "Big Board" on my ironing board that is the perfect size for the cutting mat. I have to stand to rotary cut & the ironing board adjusts to just the right height.

I use the diningroom table. With a severe bad back I can only cut in small amts. It's the right height and convenient.

Hi Diane, I went to a school and office outlet for the tables I use in my sewing room and they work great. I the outlet I went to you purchase the table top and then you purchase the legs that way I could get the correct height I needed. Everyone's height is different due to all of us being different body sizes. here is a link to help you out to figure what height you will need for cutting and sewing. Good luck. Barbara

I'm lucky to have a separate room just for sewing. I have a table for cutting, my mat etc., are always set up.

I use an old banquit table that my husband put pvc pipe on each leg to raise it up to my height Im 5ft 1in and my back cant take the low tables or desk I sew at.I believe the pvc is 2in around and he bought round ends to close off the end of each leg.It it makes for moving around the floor easier. I know you will enjoy quilting and be able to bring many smiles to people you give quilts to.

I use a kitchen table that I picked up from a garage sale for $20. It came with 4 chairs too! It's in great shape, fits my 34x60 cutting mat perfectly.
