Oooh.. Caroline, that's a good question. I found it while searching for "Singer 27-2 or VS2" online. It might have been an image search. It's the latest machine I bought (a treadle from 1896) so I thought it was very fitting. It is also a clearer representation of my idea of myself than the other shot; even though it's technically me, my husband said it was very 'pose-y' (to which I snort and say, 'Hey! It was a new haircut and I was feeling a bit spesh). Anyway, I since did the World's Greatest Shave for the Leukaemia Foundation and have completely shaved my head, so it was time to change the pic

Cathy, I just checked and the 16x231/DBx1 IS a 1738! So I'm sure it must be right. Will report back ASAP.

I got it working!! Long groove to the left and threaded left to right - but the shank keeps slipping so I think the round shank may not be right. Might visit the Shop to discuss the intricacies of this one...

The DBx1 needle is the same length from top of the shank to the eye as the 15X1 ( timing length). Try the 15x1 needle it might just work. Remember to orient it the same.

Hi all - just an update to announce that I have found the most WONDERFUL lady in Germany whom - after quite a few emails in German, translated by my lovely German friend - has agreed to copy and post her Phoenix 250 manual for me.......... for .......... drumroll ............ the princely sum of .............drumroll........... $7.05!
Yes, that's right - COST PRICE.

That just goes to prove that in this crazy world we live in, 'good' always wins. At least that's what I'm telling myself

And as an aside:

Do you like the new one Caroline? I thought it was hilarious. I keep finding them on eBay in Germany.
