    I have this rule: I don't buy a sewing machine or a dog that I can't pick up. Because you are looking at some high end machines, I assume that you want to do machine embroidery as well. I had the Bernina 580 for about 4 months before I exchanged it for a Babylock Journey. I had a lot of trouble having to go through so many screens to get to where I needed to go. When I took the class, some of the ladies that had the 740 were also having trouble with the screens, but some loved the machine. So be sure to spend a lot of time stitching on the 740 machine to be sure that is want you might buy.
