attaching quilt labels
#61
I sometimes put the label in the bottom left hand corner (facing the back) after the quilting is done and before the binding is put on so it is enclosed into the binding on 2 sides. Before I put the binding on and before the label is put down on the quilt, I "frame the two sides not going to be enclosed in the binding so the whole label is surrounded by a frame of binding fabric (I just applique stitch the two free sides down). Sometimes I just turn under the 2 free sides (no frame).
Sometimes I use an extra block left over from the quilt top to create a label. And sometimes I put the label into the body of the back somewhere.
The important thing is to LABEL YOUR QUILTS!!!
Here are some pictures of labels I have used:

This forum is GREAT! Thank you all for your info on how you label your quilts. I really like the 'triangle' label that was sewn as part of the block.
I really never knew what a label was..duh... when I first started quilting.
However, right now, I am designing my own quilts for my grandchildren. The first one I make, I just hand embroidered on the bottom front "love grandma" and the year.
I am book marking this for future reference. Thanks to you all.

I love you all!
I am finishing my 4th quilt and have been pondering labels; pre-made or hand cut? Small or bigger? Fancy or plain...
Anyway your responses have given me great ideas- love the triangle label/pocket, maybe add a fabric from the front.
Thanks for all the wonderful techniques!

I always sew a hand embroidered label on by hand after I'm finished; it's like the finishing touch. One of these days... I'm going to send one out to be done professionally, I plan on sewing the label to the backing, and have the quilting done over the top of the label... in my imagination, that looks very nice.
