How do you dispose the rotary cutter blades?

O.k. Ladies. Rotary blades are considered a sharp. you can put them in sharp containers and then drop them off at your local hospital who will dispose of them properly. If they go in the trash, then they will go to the landfill. These blades don't decompose quickly and can stay there for more than a 100 yrs. That is someone else many times later down the road who can get hurt by them. I would like to see these blades be recycled in some way. So will do more research and see what I can find out.

I designate a handle or two, and use the old blades for cutting paper, so by the time they are used a lot more
they are very dull. Then I roll them on my glass table top or a glass plate or bottle and dull them even more ( Glass is harder than steel - It does not even mark glass) and put them into a tin can and put them into the trash.

Have you had luck with the Harbor Freight blades? Both my sister in Charleston, SC and I (in Frankfort, KY) bought some and they were horrible!! They didn't cut fabric worth a darn!! I was just reading through this thread thinking about sending them to be sharpened!!!
that's what I've been doing, but now with the Harbor Freight blades I'm going to wrap them in cardboard and tape shut.
