I personally think that the Dr. is engaging in fraud. My brother lived in Atlanta and his dr billed him for an office visit if he called in to have a prescription renewed. Not fair. Call Medicare and your insurance. We all have to let Medicare know what is happening or the whole program will go belly up. Do make that call; it is not right to be charged like that.

I think that is so wrong. With my doc anything I have done goes on one bill. The only extra I ever pay besides my co pay is for certain things that are not totally covered. You need to check with your insurance co. My husband was being billed $1,100 per Doc visit at the dialysis center, One day I was looking at the bill and realized that he could only charge what Medcare allows since he contracts with them.

Sounds like FRAUD!!!!!!!!!! So you can go to the doctors but keep your mouth shut!! What branch of government told you it was OK for a doctor to bill for two office visits in one day? Especially when you were only there once. File a complaint with the attorney general's office in your state. Can you bill for the same service twice even though it was only one visit? Sad day in USA we cannot ask a question. Bill the doctor for your time researching this matter.

Why don't you complain to your local AMA? Make them investigate!

I realize that doctors are self-employed and their mal-practice insurance is high. But I want to know at what point does the cost of medical care actually benefit the taxpayer. Doctors' charges are sky high! Doctors don't want patients who can pay and when patients have medical coveraage, they take advantage of the patient with the policy.

Yet we as taxpayers are yelling about our medical insurance lousy coverage and the government dictating to us on whether we should have medical insurance. The government is even fighting over medical insurance issues amongst themselves! I just don't know.......

It goes to show that each of us needs to be responsible to keep thorough records, recipts, etc. Since it seems to take forever for the file to be "closed" we would have the "amunition" to back us up....BUT! I just hate NEEDING to question everyone and double checking everything. I am a trusting person and am torn!@#$

I believe I would schedule an appointment with the billing department. If you don't get the result you want, find another doctor. And, I would make it known that you are planning to switch doctors if your 'problem' isn't resolved. I worked in the medical field for over 25 years & NEVER EVER heard of such a practice.

You are 100% wrong.. It is legal.. Medicare does not allow physicals, and can not be billed for it..

I used to go to therapy for my back and would pass the office mgr every time in the hallway. on the way past me she would ask "how are you today?" and that was it. went and got therapy. I was billed for an office visit each and every time. i quit going!
