Love it! It's very masculine and I'm sure it will be greatly loved.
RE binding, I sew mine to the back first, then press and turn it to the front and top stitch. The stitches seem to almost always fall in the ditch on the back, but the front looks perfect every time! Lazy, and not show-worthy, but much easier and quicker than by hand when dealing with something large and cumbersome.

I'm sure he will love it. It's so precious of you to make something just for him. We are all so blessed that we don't realize that there are those who actually have nothing to call their own. Prayers for all involved.

Very manly....I be it will make him feel special....It is a shame that people have childern and then don't want to complete their obligations to raise them. I am sure his grand-parents will love him and get him back on track. God bless them all....

How could a parent do that to a child! I am so upset for him. Sorry. Just venting. I nearly lost one child from extreme prematurity and my second son has muscular dystrophy. You could not pry either of them away from me ever no matter what! I am so glad you and the grandparents are able to show this boy some love and attention. Sounds like he will need a lot from what was lacking before!
My sociology professor from way long ago once said, "Do not judge another man until you have walked the path of life in his moccasins."
I printed out that saying and kept it above my desk for many years.
Teens can be totally defiant and make life extremely challenging (to be polite). No one knows what those parents have put up with or how their efforts to guide have been rejected.
I don't mean to get on my high horse, but it sure is not easy living with defiant teens. It takes every ounce of strength and effort that we can muster here. Time will help them see how much we love and care about them, but until that time...life can be a living nightmare.
Maybe that is why I escape into th QB every night..

It is sad, but the boy is probably much better off where he is wanted. Hopefully, he will also get some counseling. Your quilt won't solve his problems, but may give him a sense that someone cares. Good for you.
