This would be my choice also! Making 2 quilts will, I think, make them even more special for your granddaughters and pink and lavender seem to be "go to" colors for girls! You might also put out the crayons from a color box and ask them to pick their favorite. (You can "control" the choices by taking out the ones you would not want for these quilts.)
The great thing about the reproduction fabrics is that any color goes with them!

Yesterday I thought pink, today I like the green better. You're welcome.
Love the blocks, I haven't seen Sun Bonnet Sue like that.

Very cute Sues.
I'd make two quilts as well. You may find a fabric that would go well with Sun Bonnet Sue for the squares; just a thought. I would probably use square of different colors and even "not busy" prints, to use between your blocks. You've done an outstanding job on the applique! You great-grand-daughters are very lucky girls!

I'm glad you asked this, Pink and two quilts would be my choice. Your blocks are beautiful. I am planning to make my two children one each out of their late father and my clothing for the sue and sam , oh yes my dc are adults. That is a must to have one each. Hadn't thought of using the plain block between them.

I think the pink would be best, it matches your appliques nicely.
