    I found a Susan G. Hill who has a book currently on sale on Amazon titled The Girls Go West. I'm sure it's the same one since they both begin the same way. When I googled the name of this book you used, it's also listed as available through Amazon by way of independent sellers. I can't seem to track any information down about the author herself other than a few other activities she's involved with. There is a Susan Hill on etsy involved with quilting also.

    I can see the Birds on a wire as a way to use up some sample blocks.
