Cats do this mainly for two reasons, according to my vet: (1)Jealous of whatever you are doing that takes all your attention away from him/her, or (2) a uninary tract infection or kidney or bladder stones or crystals. My old cat had problems with crystals forming in her bladder, which made peeing painful. She associated the pain with her litter box and would find other places to pee--often on things she associated with me.

If she starts peeing on other things, take her to the vet. And this: if it's a UT infection and he gives you pills to give her, ask for a pack of Pill Pocket treats (also available at pet stores, if the vet doesn't stock them). They surely make giving cats pills a breeze. Cats love the treat (with the pill hidden inside).

I used the boiled vinegar routine when my dog ran through the house after being sprayed by a skunk and the scent got into the carpet. I washed the carpet and still the smell was there. The vingar boiled on the stove took all the smell out. It works!

Don't know if this will help but when I have something that has smelled bad, like the sour milk smell in my car, I sprinkled cat litter on it and let it set.....it worked on that. If it works in your cat's litter box it might be worth a try.

Now that's an excellent idea. Good thinking.

Strong vinegar, not red or cider, just ordinary vinegar will neutralize the smell. Then wash with your usual detergent that you use for quilts.

I'm sorry, but I would not give a gift to anyone that my cat has peed on, especially a baby. I have a seven-month-old kitten who swats at anything in his path. Knocked over my container of straight pins this morning. They were all over the floor.
I bought a larger organizer to put everything I can into it
so it's out of sight, out of paw path, and while I was moving everything from one organizer to another, down went the pins and thread and anything else that was in his path.

The only suggestion I have is to not leave work laying around. Make sure it's out of reach of your little kitten. Also, why did your kitten pee on your quilt rather than in the litter box?

Cat pee is the WORST! Good luck-that quilt looks WONDERFUL!!

As a dog owner, my best story is the time I put my Ralph Lauren sweater that I found at a HUGE discount and LOVED, ...by mistake, on top of my little boy's kennel....
He spent the day while I was at work, pulling it THREW THE WIRES OF THE KENNEL and CHEWED ON THOSE PIECES!!

My mistake on that one, but I did wonder about joys of dog ownership that evening!!!
