Hi Karen,

This is really a beautiful block that you are trying to find the name of. It almost looks like the second star might be appliqued on or something. Very unique for sure. If you find out the name of it please let me know. I would love to try to make one.

Thanks,
Sherryl

It would be a good one to paper piece but I don't know how to "make" a paper piece pattern. I wonder if someone with EQ could do it? It's a really cool block and I'd love to paper piece it! :D

I was wondering myself if maybe part of it was appliqued. Sure wish I could get a closer picture of it! If I find out more I'll let you know for sure. PS...Michael got his quilt tonight...and LOVED it!!!!! He really liked the quilting! You did an awesome job!

Karen,

After seeing this post much earlier today I have spent countless hours looking in books, online and in my EQ7 for this pattern. I hate to say that I have not found the name of this block for you. So the next best thing I recreated the block and here is my version that I will call "Candlequilter Star" and dedicate it to anyone and everyone who has ever used candle light to quilt by. I feel this is very appropriate since the picture that danjfalke posted was of a very old quilt and probably quilted by candle. So here is my version of that block. PM me if you have any questions. I will be working on EQ7 to get directions out.

Thanks,
Sherryl
