That's what I pay here (R.I.) and that is considered an inexpensive haircut! Lots of people here pay $60 and up for a haircut. I touch up my own color, though; I refuse to pay for that!

We have a beauty school in our town and I can get a nice haircut for $5-7. What I like most about it is that the students are monitored every step of the way and they do a really nice job. Years ago I had my perms (when I used to get perms) done at a beauty school too, and my sister had her hair colored at the same school. Easy on the pocketbook for sure!

as a former hairdresser--you must remember overhead, INSURANCE, and continued education. all these thingsplay a part in $$$.going to famous hair, ect is OK. many years ago, we had an influx of MEN, because they wanted to pay LESS than a barber charged! back then, in OHIO, we weren't suppose to cut men's hair(but couldn't refuse them either). EVEN the discount places- try to push PRODUCT--that's where the stylists can make some $$$.

Try looking in your area for a lady barber!! They can give you a great cut for short to medium length hair for a barber rate of $12.

lol - I havent been to a hairdresser in yrs! Can't see the cost. I have long hair and hubs just cuts it straight across when I htink I need it trimmed up, take about 3 min. I did get it charged at 25$ the last time I went way back, too much.
I color it myself, still vain; but not so much that I mind if I look a little striped now and then, lol. sharet

I have a hairdresser in ME that charges 38 and I consider that a good deal because she cuts it so it stays looking good. I have yet to fine one in WA. I will shop around and go every week to a different salon to have it washed (a real waste of money) until I find what I want. I hate to fuss and if it is cut well, I can run my fingers thru and off I go. Badly cut and I look like a bag lady

My stylist charges me $35 for a cut & style, but I saw she charges her new clients $45 now. I've never had a bad haircut from her in 8 yrs, so I'll pay gladly ! I had too many bad ones, when I used to play haircut roulette at the chain places !
Most salons here in Houston charge at least $40-50, even $60-70. I know a lot of women who pay $60 or more. Plus color or highlights, your bill is $100-150 !
I'll pay for a good haircut - but I do my own color now for about $10, it seems to last just as long !

I go to a master sytlist at a major chain -- no appointments needed, but I know the days she works -- she has been cutting my hair for about 3 years -- cost: keeps going up, $21.95 for cut, no wash -- I too cover my own grey!!
