I just purchased a Singer 402A last week already in a cabinet, but I also have a Singer treadle that I'd really like to move the 402A into. Problem is I don't have the hardware , ie. screws and little round hinges. The 402A fits into the opening on the treadle but there is a metal piece that the treadle belt goes through on the right side of the opening. Can this piece be removed to allow my Singer to fit into this opening and lowered down into the cabinet. Do I need the additional hardware to lower the machine into the cabinet?

Just wondering where I can find the hardware to fit both my treadle as well as the 402A machine.

Any suggestions?.....

Shoot a picture of it. I have a 401G and a 411G that treadle. There is a knock out on the front right hand side of the base.
You can remove that metal piece, but measure to make sure the hinge pins line up before you do.

Here's a pic of my treadle top with the hinge holes. Hope ths will help to determine which hinges to purchase. Any advice is much appreciaed. Would anyone have an idea about the treader. How old it is?

Nice cabinet. I'm posting a pirated pic of my naked 99K, hope GW don't mind. Look at the two hinges I drew the arrow too. Those are what you need to mount your machine in that cabinet.
I notice that screw hole needs repair. Not sure how I would tackle that. I currently have one that's in worse shape I haven't figure out yet.
If you see hinges with 2 screw holes in them they are for the Japanese machines. I've never seen a Singer with 2 hole hinges, only one. They would work, just won't be technically correct.

The wood does need some kind of repair. I want to see the Singer 402a you have.

Joe -- I found some hinges on Ebay with this description: "Up for bid are these machine to cabinet hinges taken off a Singer sewing machine.Has original screws.5/8" stem,and1 1/4"diameter body.Both hinges in good condition.Restore your Singer with original parts.Any questions please ask before bidding and thanks for looking."

Would these work? If so, then I'll need to get them quickly...

They "look like" they would work. When folded up the machine in your cabinet rotates down. So the hinges need to be able to rotate up and down. Those look like they do that.
Considering the price I'd give them a try.

Also look under the bottom of your machine and make sure the set screws are there for the hinge shafts. They are a must. Without them the machine will fall off the hinges.
