Dunster, that looks neat! I especially like how you have the fish shape in some of the arrangements. Wouldn't it look cool with different blues in the background and orange goldfish sprinkled about?

Its a log cabin with the lights and darks of different widths. For instance, if you made the lights in a block about finished 1 inch wide, and the darks 1/2 inch wide (finished)... they form a curve in the block. Some of the blocks reverse that *wide/narrow & dark/light* assembly. Look close LOL.
Whether the small square in the center starts out light or dark also changes. ummmm you would need a design board and careful attention..... You could vary the # of rounds in each block, and colors of your choice, its still a log cabin.... Good Luck

I found one in Colorful,Casual,Confy Quilt book, Tessellating Sea Horses--pg.134; looks like Sea Horses and if you take the pattern and just move the block a little you may get the design in your picture. Hope this helps. It is by Donna Radner. Hope this helps. Have fun!

It has a lot to do with the width of the "logs" in each block but I'd have a dickens of a time figuring out each one on this. Please post more info if you find it.
Then again, it looks a bit like each block is a "mini bargello" and the block that butts up to it is coordinated to create the flow of color. Just a guess.
