Default Is this even possible to make?

It's my adult daughter 's turn for a quilt and she has suggested she'd like one that incorporates a more architectural look and feel like the mosaics with beautiful colors she saw on walls, ceilings and floors in Turkey a couple years ago. She showed me some photos which are lovely but they seem a bit complicated/intricate. Anyone know of a pattern that might create this type of quilt?

There are some beautiful mosaic fabrics on the market. Maybe they would work...that would certainly be easier than trying to recreate the look of Turkish architecture. Or maybe a combination of fabrics and applique. Or even photos for the quilt (using Bubble Jet Set or a good transfer medium). Good luck, and please share the finished product with us.

I think it's doable. You'd just have to use pretty small squares. I saw a quilt made using a pixelated photo of a child and his teddy bear. It was beautiful! But you could tell it had taken a lot of planning to pull it all together. Lots of shades within each color group.

Google images of Tile Quilts. You'll find something to suit both your daughter's desires and your skill level. They're very popular and there are a lot of books and patterns available.

    Of course it's possible!

This page has a couple of pretty examples http://quiltinspiration.blogspot.com...uilt-show.html

Bella Bella Quilts by Norah McMeeking are just awesome and are still available.

A lot of the paper pieced patterns look like the Mosaics, especially Jacqueline de Jonge's and some of Judy Niemeyers.

It will be fun to see what you decide to make.

You might like the Labyrinth Walk pattern. It is a maze but done in browns it looks like marquetry. I have seen the pattern done in Roman mosaics on PBS.

You might try to see if anything using hexagons will work. Paper Piecing goes together quickly especially with all the hints that have posted on this site.

Whoever makes that Stonehenge fabric line has several designs that are "simpler" mosaic type quilt patterns.......in that fabric line they certainly look very good...

I'd look up concentricity by maple island quilts. It has the feel you describe.
