That would be fun!!!
Be bold and be the advocate for the children! Support them and the shop owner. You many want to suggest the owner stop in at ANY time to see if the children are "disturbing others". I bet the owner may find a new teacher. You may have a new job teaching children the joy of service and fabric.

Hi Anoka...when I first started with the 2 1/2" square madmania. I posted a message in a free cycle online board fro my area. Saying that I was looking for fabric scraps. I had 5 people contact me and they left a bag of fabric for me to stop by and pick up. One women gave me 97 fat quarters!!!! She said a friend gave them to her she did not know what to do with them and so she gave them to me!
The first swap that I was in we need 100 different fabrics so this was extremely helpful!

Anaka Quilter, another way to aquire candies is to join one of the other swaps where everything is mailed at once and received back the same way. You get 750 or so that way. Also save a couple squares from every piece of fabric you use all year long. Ask your friends for scraps, I am so supprised at how many different pieces I get that way. Quilt shops usually have scrap bins. Carefully folded, you can get a lot in a little plastic bag for $2 or $3. I am always finding inventive ways to add to my candies stach without buying fat quarters all ther time.

I love mail this year! It makes all the stuffing and mailing worth it!! To add to: NoraB, Djmat, sewbizgirl, Karen G, Jaba, Kele, bjsmith57, J_cody, n10sgrrl, lv2sew2011,WMUTeach, Daisy Dew, and Janice McC...
Four more: Patrick's Mom, trsvelinggramma, trishb, and barbarakibler23. Thank you ladies!!
(About kids and quilt stores.) a few years ago my daughters and I hit quit a few shops during "Quilt Across Texas". We soon learned there were most definitely shops that favor children and shops that do not. To this day I still only purchase at the kid friendly shop. I agree with sewbizgirl, I'd take the children back there as if that lady never mentioned a thing to you!

Hey Barb... Sounds pretty silly at the quilt shop. If the owner is going to let the 'clique' run the show, that may be all she ends up with for customers. I hope they spend enough to support her.
I would also ignore the signs/names on the chairs, or remove the one on the chair I sat in. UNFRIENDLY, to say the least. You should tell the owner those signs offend you, and make you feel 'lesser than', because you didn't buy a chair. Or ask her to bring an old chair back in for you to use.

Wow, the birthday candies are really coming in fast! I've now received another 10 from the following people: Moonrise, WMTeach, n10sgrrl, MaT, Patrick'sMom, SheriR, TrishB, PeginCo, lv2sew2011 and Barb, our fearless leader. That makes 18 so far. Thank you to everyone!

I love you guys....you make me feel so validated regarding the quilt shop. Sewbizgirl that is exactly what I was thinking...hope those ladies have deep pockets to keep her in business.
Like I said, I have a class that I have already paid for on Saturday...we will see how I am treated (and all us non-chair owning people) to see if I go back. It is really too bad, I love the quilt shop and the owner is very sweet but she is older and I think she is not really seeing what is happening. I will tell her how the name tags on the chairs make me feel so she can see my point. (hopefully this time when I talk to her I don't cry...I felt realllllllly stupid)
heart on my sleeve,
Barb
