Have step 1 for #9 Train Ride finished even though I have my last border to put on #8. Oh well don't think it really counts for my New Years Resolution, "do not start anything new until I finish my last project" as I am not buying fabric for either one.

I am using a black batik for my dark constant and 5 off/white batiks for the lights.

I plan to do this one, but am off to a late start. The reason? I can't find any suitable dark fabric in my stash. What's bad is that I *just* bought a boatload of fabric to replenish my stash, and naturally, it's all lights and brights!

I'll look again tonight, but I may have to check out our newly-opened Hobby Lobby in the morning after my dentist appointment. It's less than two miles from my house. Darn. Fabric shopping. I just "hate" that.

I'm going to be late joining in on this, so will just print the clues & work on it later...am working on about 6 quilts right now...will probably use this as a L/E and hopefully get it done in the next month or so...will keep monitoring the thread though.

I found some fabric! I'd bought several "Moda Scrap Bags" last year, and found enough nearly-identical browns to use as my "dark constant". Yay! If you look closely, the fabrics vary slightly, but from a distance, they're all the same shade of brown. Hopefully they'll work okay.

Judy - I just located the white squares, haven't decided on my dark constant yet and was wondering if I could just do it with 3" squares instead of 2-1/2".

Since you say no, then I'll just trim 'em down as I go.

Default #9 getting started

I am using the same fabric in my 4 patch units, black and white on white. Looking forward to this fast moving train. This is really a lot of fun and productive.

Sadiemae, Niojane & Jeanie G Thanks for the Monkey bread recipes. I'll try them all !

Judy, Thanks for that I will make 2 table runners.

Angelina NR.What a great job you did bringing all those quilts together in one spot.

I'm late starting this one too. I've had visitors for 5 days and its been fabulous! Now a spot of housecleaning before I jump back on the machine!

Sad to say I am just along for the socializing and watching all you ladies do your magic. Between working full time and shoveling snow I just don't have time for quilting or too darn tired. Yes, it is snowing again this morning. But the time I left for work there was about 4 inches more on the ground. But it felt warm out this morning, cleaning it up till I get home, it was about 4 out, 4 above this is. The black hot top is once again white. The once two way highway has now become close to 1-1/2 way highway. It is scary to pull out of any road as you have to nose out slowly and by the time you can see both ways, you are almost into the next lane. Just wanted to share, so you wouldn't miss out all of you that aren't playing this current winter game. Keep up the great work, it is something to look forward to seeing all the magic coming together. Thanks again Judy.
