I give!

I give!
I admit it!
I'm defeated by a baby quilt pattern! (And, I'm a VERY tenacious person, but this one has got me.)
Straightforward except for one Y seam, which was no trouble once I got my head wrapped around it, but I made three blocks and all three turned out varying sizes by well over 1/4", even though they were all made from the same cuts and even though I went back and examined my seams and they all look pretty good...I cannot figure out where I'm losing/gaining this area from.
I give. Not going to waste any more time on it. Glad I took the advice here and only cut enough fabric for a few test blocks. I still have lots of fabric left to do something else with.
Anyone else ever just throw up their hands and move on?

Oh my Yes!!! None of us can make something perfectly every time. Why do you think we all have a box of orphan blocks and not all those UFO's are unfinished because we had to move on to something more important.
Kudos for trying.

I have the most adorable children's western theme UFO waiting for when I can get those itty bitty flying geese down. When I first bought the pattern it was too hard for my skill set. I'm more experienced now so I feel more confident that I can make this pattern. So yes to your question . Maybe one day you will feel more confident to try this pattern again.

I often have to give in. The blocks don't fit as they should or my more common reason I don't like the colours in the block. Every now and then whether we are beginners or experienced a block becomes the master and no matter how we try will not behave properly.

The biggest project I had to throw in was a friendship quilt with signed blocks from a dozen club members -- all containing a print that turned out to sun-fade badly! I had them all set together and was putting on the border when I discovered the problem. Thirty years in the bottom drawer and it is being finished as a charity quilt for disaster relief.

I am having trouble with my first log cabin blocks! Unbelievable! Clearly it is my seam allowances as they all look a little wonky. Hard for me to deal with little pieces, these thin strips are making me crazy. I am making something small so I don't need very many but I amy still change my plans. On the other hand, I clearly need to master this basic block, just not sure when
