Judy, you have done an awesome job with this mystery and others in the past. I can't even imagine the planning and work and time that goes into them. You are super to do it for us. I hope you are feeling much better soon.
I have started on the last clue but have not completed one of the blocks yet. I love this pattern. I will post a block when I get further along. Taking care of my 3 yrs old grandson really cuts into my sewing time. LOL

Hi All,

It's taken me two days to get the units for the second block ready to sew together, in between other tasks. Those chevron units were a real trial. It wasn't until I went to join the two halves together that I realised that I had cut about 20 of the medium base fabric at 4" instead of 3.5", so my friend the frog came to visit for the afternoon.... .

So my 9-patches are now ready to sew together.

But see what happens if I rotate the chevron units:

Now isn't that an interesting secondary pattern?

So I played around with my 6 blocks on the wall, and came up with this idea:

Obviously bright orange is the wrong colour here, but I can see something like this in my future, perhaps in calming greens. (Also much bigger units lol).

In the meantime I'm looking forward to getting all my train-ride blocks assembled tomorrow .

It's been lovely seeing everyone's colours coming together .

K

Had no progress photos, because I didn't start until Sat p.m. But now it's ready for sandwiching and quilting. There no grey, but it sure looks like it in the picture.

Judy, this is the first of your trains I've hitched a ride on and also say "Please keep it up"! If you want a pattern tested, I'm back in the sleeper car where introverts hide, hoarding chocolate.

I love them ALL so far!

Still working on mine. The blocks are done, but I decided to make it a little bigger, then I decided I want a different border, then I decided ... well, you get the idea. I hope to have the top finished sometime tomorrow morning.

I think this is the prettiest Mystery Quilt pattern yet!

>pant pant pant<

I put my sew.ing machine into Warp Drive and managed to get it put together before bedtime. Whew! The outside lighting's not all that great this early in the morning, and the wind was blowing, but here's a couple of pics.

Some additional comments: The border is called Delectable Mountains from Quilter's Cache. I used the "Easy Method" at the bottom. It's 6-1/2" wide. If anyone wants, I can give you the info on what size to cut your fabric to make a 6-1/2" border. No sense in us doing more math than necessary, right? ha ha (It took me several tries to get it right! LOL!) The light blue interior border is 2-1/2" wide. The corner blocks are called Tam's Patch (8-1/2"), also from Quilter's Cache. I snowballed one corner on each of them to make them form part of the border.

Links:

Delectable Mountains: http://www.quilterscache.com/D/Delec...insBorder.html

Tam's Patch: http://www.quilterscache.com/T/TamsPatchBlock.html

(Pardon any typos. I'm "slap wore out". )

P.S. All of those are unfinished measurements.

Moonrise, this is an incredible finish! Love love love the border you added, it is perfect for this pattern. And the link you gave for the border, is so much easier a method than the BH way to do this. Thanks for sharing.
