Default Meet Rufus the Red

Meet Rufus the Red. This is my daughter’s dog and I told her I would make her a quiltfeaturing Rufus for her birthday.
I’m really enjoyinglearning the ‘collage’ technique! Using up scraps is wonderful (I have sew manyof them)!
I put a layer of tulle (is that spelled right?) over Rufus to keepfraying to a minimum and have mixed feelings about it. It made the black background all shimmery(the tulle is a dark green) but it had very little effect on Rufus. I also had some issues with quilting black onblack because I couldn’t really tell where I had been and where I was going! All in all this quilt was a good learning experience.

Adorable! I see that Rufus is a reader. He should be reading "A Dog's Purpose".

Love your portrait of Rufus!!! My son had a dog with one ear down and one up!! Was his companion for many years! It’s on my bucket list to create a quilt for him and his dog who had passed away and came home to the ranch for burial! After seeing yours I’m excited to do something similar!! Great job!!

Love the quilt. What book or source are you using to learn this method. I am working on a project now(kit) that requires a lot of cut up flowers using steam-a-seam. I to am wondering about what to do and tulle was one of my considerations, but it isn't mentioned as a requirement. I have quite a lot of flowers to stitch down and am concerned about missing some and how this is going to hold up in the future. Any hints about the tulle would be appreciated.
