    Default Sewing machine Pfaff Passports

I have a Pfaff, which I love, but would like a smaller, light weight machine to use for travel. Anyone have one of the Pfaff Passports? Opinions?

My friend and I both have the Passport 2. We love them, especially the built in walking foot. Have not had a problems (about 4 years). We clean them regularly and they're ideal for travel. The Passport 3 is the newer version that has the cutting thread option. Go to Pattern Review to see reviews.

I have had a Passport 2 since they came out, I think. It's a great machine! Today I was sewing through 6 layer of canvas with no issues at all. They may be small, but they are a real workhorse. I take it to guild and when I travel to my sons.

I recently bought myself a Passport 3. I think - for me at least - the thread cutting option is not worth the extra money. The cutting part is good but then the next seam starts with a knot.
But - I love this machine and it's a good "carrying" machine. AND it sews really well - just like it's much older "big sisters" - my Pfaff 1222/E/SE - any one of them!

I got one for my daughter and was not happy with the drop in bobbin. It came out of the bobbin case too easily while sewing and caused a jam. When it did work well, it sewed nicely.

I just bought Passport 2 and love the way it sews. I bought it primarily to take to class as my Performance 5 is to heavy and bulky to lift in and out of my car (or is it that I am just getting to old). I even used it for finishing the panels on my Angela Atwood Jewel Box quilt and worked as well as my Performance even though the throat is smaller. This is my 4th Pfaff that I have purchased. I compared the Passport 3 and decided that the extra difference in cost just for the thread cutter and a few other stitches was not worth the extra money.

I bought one a few years ago....I like it OK when it is working....but my passport 2 is possessed . It will sometimes "forget" the needle down and just start leaving the foot up....It also will not even sew at times....lights come on...nothing happens with the foot pedal or the start button. I can change settings and stitches...but no will sew at all. I turn it off, turn it on....will not sew. Then it will work fine....then it won't sew. then one day while I was scratching my head staring at it.....it took off at full speed and would not stop until I pulled the plug. I have brought it into the shop three times....and of course it works fine there....I use a surge protector with it....none of my other machines behave this way....I dunno...I want to get rid of it cuz I just don't trust it to bring to a class....but I don't want to sell a misbehaving machine.....

I have 2 Passport 3.0s. Love them. I call them “sisters”. One travels with me & one stays at home. I got the first one to replace my dead 7570. I still have my other Pfaff as a backup (a 6152), but these little Passports do really decent stitches. Good for piecing and basic garments. So light weight. I set them inside Sew Ezi tables. This was the first time I didn’t cave to buy a fancy (expensive) Pfaff. Time will tell if they endure.

I have recently had the same problem with my passport 2. They thought is was a sensor. That wasn't the problem. It has been in the shop for over a month. Mine is 4 years old and I use it for retreats and sewing days. I have an older Phaff that I usually sew on at home. I like the built in walking foot. I was going to trade up to the passport 3 but now I am thinking that might not be a smart thing to do.

I have the original Passport which I got when they first came out about 5 1/2 - 6 years ago. I have had zero problems with it. I use it a lot for piecing. I do clean out the bobbin area every time I change the bobbin. My only complaint is having to unscrew the plate to clean the bobbin area.
