Default Sweet Potatoes, Apples and Grapes

I think that fruit goes really well with sweet potatoes. I had some apples and grapes that were still good, but past their fresh eating phase. I thought, why not use them up in a braise? Icut up some sweet potatoes into 2 inch chunks, added some Indian curry, salt, chili powder and Garam Masala, along with some onions, sweet, red peppers and onions. Oh...and a little water to get everything cooking. Brought it all to a slow simmer for about 40 minutes and served. It was sweet, spicy and savory all at the same time. Good breakfast eating!

Happy New Year!!!

I never would have thought of something like that, but it sounds delish!

My mom always served some fruit on the side when we had a curry (not sure if it was at *all* authentic, but we liked it!) pineapple, apple cooked into the curry itself. I can see how that would be good together!

Yes! My mom did too! Raisins, shredded coconut, dried apricots, chopped nuts, etc. were put out in little bowls for diners to pick and choose from to garnish their main curry dish. I don't see that anymore. Too bad.
