Default Mom Loved Blue quilt pattern

I'm ready to make my first grandchild's graduation quilt, the "Mom Loved Blue" quilt by Fons and Porter. Has anyone made it who might have some input on the pattern? Many of the block cutting measurements are 5 7/8", 6 1/4", 4 3/8", and 3 3/8" for flying geese and pinwheel blocks. Such a pain to cut to eighths and quarters, but if I don't, I might throw the whole pattern off!! Any suggestions?? Thank you!

Those sound like measurements for no-waste blocks (where there's little to no trimming after sewing the cut pieces together.)

If they list finished or trim-to sizes for the flying geese and pinwheel blocks, can you find another method (Tucker/180 Tools) or such that has you cut more standard dimensions then trim to size?

I agree with mkc. You can probably make the blocks a little larger and trim them down to size, and that would be much more accurate.

I just looked at a photo of the quilt. It has flying geese blocks and pinwheel blocks. I would upsize the 'eighths' measurements and trim the finished flying geese or HST to the proper size. It is a bit more work but also much more accurate. I always make a sample block before starting a whole quilt. Well, in this case, you'd need 2 but they could become cushions later.

You had me curious as to the pattern ... Found It!
And oh how pretty it is ...
    https://www.quiltingdaily.com/quilt/...CLBd3FcKHSqNZk

It's a quilt of many "squares".
Once you know the finished size of the smaller squares, then work from there.
Four small squares go together to give you a block unit.
You're just making two block units ... in multiples!

Agree with the others ... skip the 1/8" measurements and make accordingly.
If you're hesitant on the precision for all the points,
... you could make this into a paper piecing pattern.

Good Luck ... am looking forward to seeing your quilt!

Another vote for round up, cut a little big and then trim down!
